The quaint town of Longridge, nestled in the heart of Lancashire, England, is steeped in rich history and cultural significance. One particularly captivating aspect of this town's history is its involvement in the industrial revolution. During the 19th century, Longridge was a bustling hub for the cotton mill industry. The town was home to four cotton mills, including the influential Tootle's Mill, which was instrumental in the town's economic growth. This mill was powered by the town's very own water source, Alston Reservoirs, which was constructed in the 1790s and is still a notable landmark today. The reservoirs not only powered the industries but also served as a transportation route, with coal from the local mines being transported via the Longridge Railway. This railway, now defunct, is a testament to Longridge's industrious past.
