The Town of Wooler, nestled in the heart of Northumberland, England, offers an intriguing slice of history centred around its association with the wool industry. The town's name itself is derived from 'Wulvre', an Old English term that stands for 'wolf's lair'. However, over the centuries, it has been widely acknowledged that Wooler's name instead aligns with its prominent role in the wool trade during the Middle Ages. The town served as a key market place, where farmers from surrounding areas would come to sell their wool, thereby boosting the local economy and weaving Wooler's unique historic fabric.
